PROCEDURAL APPROACH to armed violence against WOMEN in COSTA RICA, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA AND HONDURAS

ARMED VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, AN ISSUE TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE JUSTICE SYSTEM
70% of women who die in a violent manner in the region are victims of firearms, other causes include: Knives, strangulations and other violent expressions. More attention is usually paid to the deaths of young men, since, statistically speaking, they represent the largest percentage of victims of armed violence. Nonetheless, violence against women carries with it other connotations, since, in most cases, these deaths occur in environments of trust. In this respect, we are taking into account what is reported in the publication “Armed Violence Against Women,” according to which: “…firearms cause the majority of violent deaths among women, as well as a considerable number of injuries.
